Oppportunities for US researchers:

The Students at Risk Fonds is intended to support students who are demonstrably at risk of being formally or de facto denied the right to education at their university on the basis of their ethnic, sexual, gender or religious identity or their political or civic engagement, in continuing and completing their studies in Austria.
The fund is run by the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH).
Target group:
- Students who are enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD/doctoral programme at a university outside the EU/EFTA* which is recognised in Austria, who are formally or de facto denied the right to education. They should be able to obtain a university degree in a safe environment.
- The studies must have been pursued in the country of origin for at least one semester,
- and the discontinuation of studies must not have taken place more than two years prior to the nomination.

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is receiving an additional €8 million for its ESPRIT program, aimed at supporting early-career researchers. This expansion comes in response to rising demand, particularly due to changing conditions in the U.S., and highlights Austria’s commitment to attracting international scientific talent.
The funding is part of a broader €42 million investment from the Fonds Zukunft Österreich into FWF, which also supports cooperative research projects, doctoral training, and international partnerships. Overall, the initiative strengthens Austria’s position as a hub for excellent basic research.

Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation

The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation is a leading force in knowlegde exchange between Austria and the U.S. Its mission is to strengthen transatlantic relations, foster innovation and promote knowledge exchange.
To fulfill its mission, the Foundation awards around 100 research fellowships each year to Austrian and American students and researchers. It supports guest professorships on both sides of the Atlantic, organizes conferences, lectures, and symposia to foster academic dialogue, and publishes works that contribute to the transatlantic discourse. In addition, it facilitates research collaborations and innovative projects that address global challenges through a transatlantic lens.
