Eighteen researchers based at Austrian research institutions have been awarded prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grants in the 2026 call.
ERC Starting Grants support outstanding early-career researchers in establishing their own independent research teams and pursuing ambitious research projects. The strong result underlines Austria’s position as an attractive and internationally competitive research destination.
The successful researchers are based at institutions including ISTA, the Universities of Innsbruck, Vienna and Graz, TU Wien, the Medical Universities of Vienna and Innsbruck, and Central European University (CEU).
