Save the date: Austrian ERA Symposium

The Austrian ERA Symposium, now in its third edition, will take place on 17 November 2025 in Vienna as a full-day on-site event. The event will feature a keynote speech by Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva on current dynamics in EU R&I policy (t.b.c.). 

You will gain first-hand insights into the evolving developments toward an ERA Act, introducing for the first time legally binding measures to strengthen the European Research Area. Furthermore, the symposium will spotlight the priorities of Austria’s next Action Plan for the European Research Area (2026–2028).

The event will be highly interactive, joining researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, higher education institutions as well as research performing and research funding organisations, NGOs, and civil society representatives.
